Attleboro, MA, June 24, 2025 - The City of Attleboro and the Attleboro Recreation Department are proud to announce the continued and generous support of Sturdy Health, whose $15,000 contribution this summer will once again help provide safe, enriching, and healthy experiences for thousands of Attleboro residents and guests.

This is the 17th year Sturdy Health has supported the city’s summer programs, including its swimming pools which open on Wednesday June 25th at 11 a.m. The Briggs (36 East St.), Spatcher (79 North Ave.), and Twin Village (700 S. Main St.) pools will be open daily from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. until August 15th. All pools will be open 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. on July 4th, and the Spatcher pool will be closed on July 3rd for the city’s Independence Day fireworks event.

Sturdy Health’s commitment to community wellness has played a crucial role in the success of Attleboro’s public pools and summer recreation programs.

“Sturdy has long been a reliable and strong supporter of our recreational programs, and I deeply value their partnership in this and other matters,” said Mayor Cathleen DeSimone.

“Thanks to the Sturdy Health Foundation, our programs reach children, families, and seniors with affordable opportunities to stay active, stay safe, and stay connected,” said Christy Clausen, Director of Recreation. “Their continued support reflects a shared commitment to public wellness and community impact.”

In 2024 alone, Attleboro’s public pools welcomed over 10,000 visits, offering a vital space for supervised aquatic play, water safety education, and neighborhood connection. Through Sturdy’s support, the Recreation Department has been able to offer:

  • Affordable open pool time for Attleboro and Massachusetts residents, ensuring access to safe and supervised aquatic recreation.
  • Free lifeguard certification classes, increasing employment opportunities for young people while reinforcing critical water safety skills.
  • Affordable youth swim lessons and water safety education, equipping children with the confidence and skills to stay safe around water.
  • A traveling arts and crafts program that brings creativity and enrichment to youth at summer meals sites across the city.

One local parent shared how her family has spent many of the hot summer days at one of Attleboro’s three pools, and how their time at the pool became a central part of their summer routine. Her son learned to swim through city programs and recently became a certified lifeguard, now serving the very pool where he built his confidence. “It came full circle,” she said. “This program gave my son skills, friends, and now a summer job.”

“At Sturdy Health, we recognize that supporting community programs strengthens community health, which is why we’re so proud to partner with Attleboro Recreation again this year,” said Aimee Brewer, President & CEO at Sturdy Health. “Keeping families safe, active, and connected enhances wellbeing, and we’re thrilled to continue this long-standing community initiative."

The Attleboro Recreation Department looks forward to strengthening this meaningful partnership in the years ahead, aligning programs with the evolving health needs of the Attleboro community.
