Sturdy Memorial Hospital Earns 2025 Leapfrog Top Hospital Award

Recognized Among the Top Six Percent of Hospitals in the U.S. for Outstanding Quality and Safety
Attleboro, MA (December 15, 2025) –For the first time in the two decades since the designation was created, Sturdy Memorial Hospital today announced that it was named a Top General Hospital by The Leapfrog Group, highlighting its nationally recognized achievements in patient safety and quality. This award is one of the most competitive honors hospitals and surgery centers in the United States can receive.
“Earning recognition among the top hospitals in the nation is a powerful testament to the unwavering dedication of every member of our team,” said Aimee Brewer, president and CEO of Sturdy Health. “From the clinicians delivering exceptional care to the environmental services professionals who safeguard our healing environment, each person at Sturdy plays a vital role in advancing patient safety and quality. This award reflects our relentless pursuit of excellence and the deep trust our community places in us. I am incredibly proud of our team and the compassion and skill they bring to every person who turns to us for care.”
Sturdy Memorial Hospital is one of just 52 hospitals to receive a “Top General” distinction. More than 2,400 hospitals were considered, and 156 hospitals were selected for the Top Hospital award – representing about six percent of eligible hospitals – in the following categories:
- 52 Top General
- 15 Top Children’s
- 16 Top Rural
- 73 Top Teaching
The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit watchdog organization that rates hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers on how well they protect patients from preventable harm, including accidents, injuries, and infections. The Leapfrog Top Hospital award is given to teaching, general, rural, and children’s hospitals that publicly report their performance through the Leapfrog Hospital Survey and meet the high standards defined in the Top Hospitals methodology. This includes infection rates, maternity care, and a hospital’s ability to prevent medication errors, among other standards.
“Sturdy Memorial Hospital has distinguished itself through an unwavering focus on safety and quality, earning a place on this year’s list of Top Hospitals,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “This recognition reflects a culture of transparency and continuous improvement – one embraced by every member of the organization. We commend the entire team at Sturdy Memorial Hospital for reaching this outstanding milestone.”
This acknowledgement follows the third consecutive “A” Hospital Safety Grade Sturdy Memorial Hospital earned from The Leapfrog Group in November.
