Spiritual Care
Sturdy Memorial Hospital understands the importance of meeting the spiritual and religious needs of our patients, their families and the hospital staff.
The spiritual care team consists of a Roman Catholic Deacon and an Interfaith Chaplain. Their role is to provide the following:
- Spiritual and emotional support
- Non-judgmental listening
- Responding to trauma, crisis, loss or grief
- Support in observing your faith practice
- Prayer, blessing or supportive conversations
Our Roman Catholic Deacon can contact a local priest at the request of the patient for sacrament of the sick or other needs the patient may require.
The Interfaith Chaplain can contact any local clergy at the request of the patient.

Pastoral Care demonstrates a dedication to human dignity, an appreciation for individual differences, a balance of acceptance and accountability, a dedication to justice and mercy, and an incarnation of love and hope. The Interfaith Chaplain crosses institutional, economic, cultural, and ecclesiastical boundaries to represent a God who has demonstrated a desire for wholeness in human life.
