Through the combination of outstanding, well-trained medical staff and modern technology, we strive to provide the very best care to our patients and their families.

The information here is designed to serve as a guide to assist you during your time at our hospital - whether as a patient or visiting a loved one.

Smoke & Tobacco Free

For the health and safety of our patients, visitors and staff, our hospital is a smoke-free institution. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on our campus.

Our Hospitalist Program

We use hospitalists as part of the inpatient health care team for its medical patients and for surgical patients with medical needs. The hospitalists work with emergency department physicians, nursing staff, and other critical members of our health delivery team to provide efficient, quality care from admission to discharge.

What is a hospitalist?

A hospitalist is a physician who specializes in the medical care of patients who are in the hospital. Hospitalists are trained the same way as primary care physicians (PCPs). They attend medical school and complete residency training, usually in internal medicine.

Managing Your Care

The hospitalists at Sturdy Memorial manage all aspects of a patients care in the hospital, such as ordering tests, prescribing medications, monitoring results and progress, and readying them for discharge. They are considered to be the leader of the hospital health care team and see their patients at least once a day while they are here. If you or a member of your family needs to speak to the hospitalist assigned to you, that can be arranged through your nurse.

Your PCP

Your primary care physician will resume responsibility for your care after you leave the hospital. To ensure your PCP knows what occurred while you were here, we will make sure he or she gets the details of your stay and appropriate hospital records, including post-discharge plans and medications.
