According to the National Institutes of Health, it is estimated that more than 6.5 million people suffer from non-healing or chronic wounds. This number is expected to grow as the population ages and as diseases, such as diabetes and obesity, become more common.

  • Diabetes
  • Trauma and surgical wounds
  • Venous insufficiency
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Arterial circulation disorders

Sturdy Health Wound Management & Specialty Services at Sturdy Memorial Hospital

When you call to schedule an appointment, you are taking an important first step toward healing. Our wound care team will develop a treatment plan based on your needs and monitor your progress throughout your care. We will also provide your primary care provider with regular updates. You will continue to see your regular doctor for your other routine medical care.

At your first visit, a specialized wound care nurse will evaluate your wound, review your medical history, and discuss your overall health. This evaluation helps our team understand your needs and develop an appropriate plan for your wound care.

Your Treatment Program

A case manager will be assigned to coordinate your care and help guide you through your treatment program. Specialized testing, procedures, or imaging may be needed as part of your treatment. Your care will typically include weekly visits to provide treatment, monitor your wound’s progress, and make adjustments as needed.

Our wound care team will work with you throughout your treatment. You will receive instructions on home wound care, dressing changes, and ways to protect your wound from further injury.

You are an important part of your treatment program. If you have questions about your progress or treatment, please ask. We are here to support you and help you understand your care. Our team is committed to providing the specialized care you need to support wound healing.
