Sturdy Health is an independent, nonprofit, community-driven health system providing compassionate, high-quality care close to home.
Anchored by Sturdy Memorial Hospital, a 142-bed acute care hospital, the health system offers hospital-based care, emergency and urgent care, primary care, and specialty care at more than 25 locations throughout Southeastern Massachusetts and neighboring Rhode Island.
As a nonprofit organization, every decision is guided by a commitment to improving the health and well-being of the communities we serve. Sturdy Health is governed by a volunteer board of directors made up of respected community leaders, and we are led by a team of highly trained healthcare professionals who are passionate about delivering exceptional care through collaboration, innovation, and clinical excellence.

A History of Caring
Since 1913, Sturdy Health has provided compassionate, high-quality care close to home. What began as a 15-bed hospital in the former home of James and Ada Sturdy has grown into an independent, nonprofit health system serving communities throughout the region. At the heart of our health system is Sturdy Memorial Hospital, a 142-bed community care hospital offering advanced inpatient services, including an all-suite labor and delivery unit. While we’ve grown to include primary care, specialty care, urgent care, and outpatient services, our commitment remains the same: providing quality care with compassion, expertise, and respect.

Whether it’s an emergency or an illness that can’t wait for an appointment, Sturdy Health is here to help. Our Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, caring for tens of thousands of patients annually. For illnesses and injuries that aren’t life-threatening, our Urgent Care center offers convenient, seven-day-a-week access to expert care.
Good health starts with a trusted primary care provider. Regular visits help prevent illness, manage chronic conditions, and catch health concerns early. At Sturdy Health, our primary care providers offer personalized care through every stage of life with many convenient locations.

When specialized care is needed, Sturdy Health offers expert services without requiring patients to travel far from home. With 25 practice locations across Attleboro, North Attleboro, Plainville, Mansfield, Rehoboth, Seekonk, Norton, and surrounding communities, our specialists provide care in a wide range of medical and surgical specialties. Services include cardiology, gastroenterology, women’s health, pulmonary medicine, orthopedics and sports medicine, spine care, pain management, podiatry, rehabilitation services — including physical, occupational, and speech therapy — and many other specialty programs designed to support every stage of health. Our specialty teams use advanced technology and the latest treatment options to optimize outcomes for every patient. Our goal is simple: high-quality care that’s accessible, convenient, and close to home.
